Google Drops Pay-Per-Call

By admin | November 23, 2007

I’m not sure if this news will actually affect ANYONE that I know of, but I figured it’s worth posting. I can definitely understand why it’s had problems. If I clicked on something that wanted my phone number to connect me with an advertiser, I would be clicking the back button like one of those barely computer literate old ladies who think that clicking something more than once will make it happen faster. THAT is how irritating I would find that sort of ad.

Of course, I’m a little odd in that respect, as I’m sure many of us who work in online marketing are. I think most things can be dealt with by visiting a website and e-mailing questions, and I’m not eager to let people waste my time with pushy sales talk over the telephone. I’m would guess that it works pretty well with older customers looking for complicated or service-related products. What do you think? Any experience with pay-per-call?
